Starting balances in an existing project may pose a particular problem. It may be desired that the starting position balance to current financial statements that are the accumulation of many years of operations. Furthermore, near term years may have been budgeted, or may be tied to existing contractual agreements. For these reasons, a number of variances are provided for.
The vector TODATE and column 6 of OM will impose adjustments in the first period of operations to allow the model to reflect book basis.
The input AVAR permits the imposing of variances on accounts in the profit and loss statement (format 420) for as many periods as desired.
